Krav Maga Tactical Survival: Personal Safety in Action Review

Krav Maga Tactical Survival

When the grid goes down, and SHTF, it’s vital that a person knows how to protect themselves. Guns, knives, and other weapons will only get a person so far. Also, despite what most people think, those items aren’t always readily available when the need arises.  A person needs to be able to protect themselves even when they’re unarmed. Upon searching for a book about personal self defense I came across: Krav Maga Tactical Survival: Personal Safety in Action by: Gershon Ben Keren.

Krav Maga is a self-defense system that’s a mixture of numerous forms of martial arts and fighting techniques, including: Boxing, wrestling, street fighting, Judo, and Karate among others. Originally developed for the Israeli defense and security forces, this style has become extremely popular in the civilian community due to it being designed to end a confrontation as fast and as effectively as possible. The original idea behind Krav Maga was to take the most practical techniques from various forms of fighting styles and make them teachable to the masses. While encouraging those practicing Krav Maga to avoid confrontation if at all possible, it also teaches to act fast and aggressively to subdue the attacker(s). Situational awareness is another aspect covered and encourages the person to be aware of their surroundings. Being on the look out for escape paths, picking out potential threats, or identifying anything that could improve your odds of survival is an imperative part of this particular fighting style.

The book’s author, Gershon Ben Keren, is a 5th degree black-belt in Krav Maga and runs a training facility out of Boston, Massachusetts. He holds a Masters Degree in Psychology, and has trained and instructed internationally for decades. He’s done a great job of laying out the fundamentals and techniques in this book, and no matter what end of the training level spectrum you’re on, it’s easy to understand. One reoccurring theme you’ll notice in this book is: survival and being able to escape a dangerous situation with your life.

In a world without rule of law, you’re in charge of your own personal safety. You want to be prepared, and capable to stay alive, by any means necessary. By learning and successfully utilizing Krav Maga, I’m confident that a person would be able to hold their own in a dangerous, physical situation. While most fighting styles are geared towards one or a few particular set of moves, Krav Maga borrows moves and strikes from multiple sources, in order to develop a well-rounded arsenal. Aside from physical combat, mental toughness also plays a large part in the grand scheme of things. Combing these elements makes for a formidable self-defense plan.

The next time you’re considering taking a self-defense class or if you’re just looking at making yourself a slightly harder target, check out Krav Maga or more specifically: Krav Maga Tactical Survival: Personal Safety in Action. You won’t regret it. Being able to defend yourself when the world goes to Hell will prove to be a major addition to your emergency gear. With this particular book you’ll be getting potentially life-saving information from someone that is well-trained and has the experience to back it up.
