Honey is a great survival food with many medical benefits. It’s one of the few foods that have an eternal shelf life. Although basically a sugar, honey has low moisture, is very acidic, and even contains a minute amount of hydrogen peroxide. These are the factors that allow, or shall we say, do not allow, microorganisms to grow in and spoil the tasty treat. The very nature of honey also lends itself to use as a natural bandages for cuts, scrapes, and burns.
It is also one of the few foods you can get another living creature to prepare for you with minimal effort. Raising bee’s is said to be an art form by some. Just the thought of raising insects can be intimidating, to say the least.
